Ramgopal Varma has always been experimental in his movies; no matter whether they clicked or not in the box office. His latest movie, ‘Rann’ falls into his collection of unconventional movie plotted out of the modern dilemmas. Though the movie seems to be based on the often-told story of politics versus media, the presentation of the plot makes the movie stand out. The movie is all about the media business which in modern day seems to be slipping from the moral code of ethics. Ramu brings out the present craze for sensational news in the media industry which is now considered to be the fastest means to produce revenue.

Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rann’ may make you feel like seeing another ‘Sarkar’. The movie has a strong theme and is made with the best intention to portray the evils revolving in the society. The movie may sound too idealistic to some but can be a right choice for the thinking viewers. The movie has a serious tone and it goes well with the requirements of the movie.

Harshvardhan Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) owns a news channel which runs on the principle of morals and ideals. Malik believes in presenting the true news and not creating news just to win public. However, his son Jai Malik (Sudeep) runs with the trend and takes media as a source to fill one’s pocket. He joins hand with the opposition leader Mohin Pandey (Paresh Rawal) and uses his channel to conspire against the ruling Prime Minister. Purab (Riteish Deshmukh) steps in to get into the truth of the issue.

Though ‘Rann’ starts very impressively, it begins to lack conviction as it progresses. The end becomes quite predictable and thus the movie lacks the suspense factor. One can easily draw a similarity between the climatic twist in this flick and that of ‘Page 3’. Dialogues are crisp and effective. Amit Roy’s cinematography makes a clear impression in the movie. Since it is a serious genre movie, music restrains itself to the background and it does this for good.

Following her accident she lands up in Shimmer’s house. The snooty, high society girl Shimmer at first detests her but after hearing her story she decides to help her. How Shimmer manages to help Samarpreet woo Donsai back by completely transforming her as a hottie Samara and how in the same course also learns a lesson or two about true love of her long time lover PRG (Shah Rukh Khan) forms the rest of the plot.

The film is directed by Prachya Pinkaew and his team Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong tells of a girl who has the expertise and extraordinary power in taekwondo martial science, so that people around him called Kid Power.
